Manufacturing a Repeatable Drive-Thru Program for 7 Brew

Russo Modular is manufacturing commercial modular drive-thru buildings for 7 Brew Coffee across California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Wyoming. The program uses repeatable building designs manufactured at our Phoenix facility to support 7 Brew’s expansion into multiple markets.
The first 7 Brew location in Visalia, California, is now complete. The 1,056-square-foot drive-thru features our L-shaped, milk-side configuration with an interior walk-in cooler and an additional canopy. The building was manufactured approximately 550 miles away in Phoenix while site preparation progressed in Visalia.
Aaron White, our Installation Manager, said the building arrived at the site approximately 98 percent complete, with tables and equipment remaining to be installed. The project moved from production to installation in 120 days.
The Visalia location demonstrates how coordinated engineering and controlled manufacturing support 7 Brew’s multi-state expansion. It is operated by Flynn Restaurant Group and represents the franchise operator’s first modular 7 Brew location.
Engineering a repeatable drive-thru program
Multi-location restaurant expansion requires a building design that can be manufactured consistently and adapted to different sites and jurisdictions. We coordinate architecture, structural engineering, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems before manufacturing begins. The building is modeled as an integrated system, allowing the same engineered design to serve as the foundation for subsequent locations.
“The engineering happens once,” said Rustin Russo, Managing Partner of Russo Modular. “Every drive-thru after that comes off the same plan. We answer the hard questions in the model, so the fortieth build comes out the same as the first.”
Manufacturing in a controlled environment
At our Phoenix manufacturing facility, structural framing and building components are fabricated and assembled from coordinated engineering models. Manufacturing includes framing, welding, mechanical, electrical and plumbing installation, stainless steel, refrigeration and interior finishes. The building is substantially completed before shipment, allowing site preparation and factory production to proceed concurrently. Once delivered, the building is positioned by crane. Remaining site work includes utility connections and installation of the operator’s furniture, fixtures and equipment.
For 7 Brew and its franchise operators, the result is a scalable building program that connects engineering, manufacturing and installation across multiple markets. The 7 Brew program adds to our work with restaurant and beverage brands including Black Rock Coffee Bar, Lola Beans, Dutch Bros, Town Pump’s Stone House Coffee Shots and Jimmy John’s.
